Guidelines and Rules for the P.A.T.

The Smith County ESD 2 Physical Agility Test is comprised of several obstacles to be completed in no more than four (4) minutes. Penalties (listed below) will add to your ten (10) seconds per penalty to your final time. 

 Stair Climb

• The first obstacle will be to climb four (4) flights of stairs in the conex boxes while wearing an air pack, helmet, and carrying a folded hose line. You may skip steps on the way up. On the way down, applicants MUST touch EVERY step. Not doing so (on the way down) will result in a penalty per missed step. 

Hose Pull

• Upon reaching the top of the stairs, applicants will pull a rolled hose (25lbs) through an open window before proceeding back down the stairs and out of the conex boxes. You will carry the hose to the next obstacle.

Keiser Sled

• Applicants will move to the next obstacle (*** feet away) before dropping their folded hose at the keiser sled. The keiser sled involved using a nine (9lb) pound hammer to move a 151 steel beam five (5) feet. Hitting the hammer on anything but the middle beam will result in a penalty per inaccurate hit.

Cone Walk

• Upon moving the Keiser sled the required distance, applicants will drop the hammer and proceed to move in a patterned walk between cones. 

Hose Draw and Deploy

• Applicants will carry a charged hose line 100ft* before hitting a target with the streamline. 

Victim Carry

• The final obstacle for applicants will be to carry a 200lb* dummy backwards at least 100ft* past the selected cones. Applicants are welcome to use the strap on the dummy to drag, but it must be a backwards pull.
