About the Chapel Hill Volunteer Fire Department

Chapel Hill Volunteer Fire Department was founded on October 1, 1965, in the city of New Chapel Hill, TX in Smith County. The fire department was founded by seven members of men and woman, in a small 20x30 foot building, and with three apparatus. In 1985, Chapel Hill Volunteer fire department members built a 6-bay station with kitchen and bathrooms in the back of the station. Three apparatuses were added to the fleet to serve the community of Chapel Hill. New Peirce fire engine was purchase and paid in full by the fire department and the city of Chapel Hill, in November 1999. Tanker was purchase for the Fire department in the year of 2008 with the assistance from Forestry grants. In 2014, the city of New Chapel Hill provided funds for the newest built station of Chapel Hill, with assistance from the Christian Builders Association for interior framing of the station, with completion of interior by the members of the fire department. The grand opening of the new 50x150 feet fire station was 2016. Currently the Chapel Hill fire department operates with approximately 25 members of men and women to serve the community of Chapel Hill.
